New Smart Traffic solution, Välkky Sign, announced
Havainne Oy, a Finnish company specializing in safety of pedestrians,cyclists, and other light traffic, has today announced a new product designed to add safety and visibility on crosswalks and light traffic
routes.
Välkky export opened
First Välkky sensor capsules have been delivered to Austria and Estonia this week. Havainne Oy has agreed the delivery with it's local partners Gesig GmbH ja AS Signaal. These deliveries shows that there is an increased need for cost efficient cross walk traffic safety solutions in other parts of Europe. In addition to these deliveries, activities are ongoing to start deliveries to other European markets
Havainne participates in IBM100-year exhibition
The intelligent traffic indicator Välkky will be presented at IBM's 100-years exhibition in Finland during 25.5 - 10.06.2011. The exhibition is a summary of history, present and future. Today's technology allows with small investments significant improvements in traffic safety. In Finland, nearly 50% of all traffic accidents for pedestrians and cyclists happen on cross walks. We can today quickly and cost-effectively improve traffic safety by investing in smart proven technologies.
Bicycle season is starting
Summer is soon here, and all schools start their long summer holidays. One of the clearest signs of this is a steep increase in bicycle penetration on all roads. In order to ensure safety for all, Välkky offers cost efficient option for increased safety.
VÄLKKY SHOW CASING IN AUSTRIAS BIGGEST FAIR FOR ROAD PLANNERS
Välkky will be shown at Austrias biggest fair for municipalities and road planners 13-14.04.2011 in Wels Austria. Havainne Oy is partnering with Gesig GmbH to promote Välkky to the Austrian audience.
More Välkkys to the European Capital of Culture
Havainne Oy installed Välkky traffic indicators at two crosswalks in Turku - the European Capital of Culture 2011. The crosswalks are located next to the railwaystation bridge and in front of the Logomo culture workshop.
More than 100 Välkky installations

Välkky has a positive impact
SITO (www.sito.com) has completed the first part of a study to determine the impact of installed Välkky products on drivers behaviour. After installing Välkky's in average 10% more drivers slow down when a pedestrian is crossing a crosswalk and in some cases up to 15% of the drivers slow down. The study was done at four crosswalks in Espoo during October-November. This study complements the earlier study (by Destia) that indicates that the average speed at a crosswalk with Välkky drops with 5%
